Dorothy Lynch Dressing

If you live in a state where Dorothy Lynch dressing is “not available in stores.”
I.am.so.sorry.
bottle3
We are lucky enough to live next to the state it originated in.  Nebraska.  And thus, it’s in every single grocery store here.
But there’s one tiny problem.
It’s kind of expensive.  And it never goes on sale.  NEV-ER.
We’ve been using this make-it-yourself-alternative for many years.  It tastes so, so close to the real thing.
And I’m thinking you probably already have the ingredients right there at home.  If you’d like to try it :)

Dorothy Lynch Salad Dressing

Photo
    • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
    • 1/4-1/2 cup sugar (OK to use Splenda instead)
    • 1 can store brand condensed tomato soup
    • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
    • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon celery seeds (or poppy seeds if you don’t have these)
    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Mix all ingredients in a blender until creamy.  Pour into a jar or container and refrigerate until ready to use.
PS -  It also makes a fabulous glaze for ham and pork chops!  f

Scrapalooza

Recently a member of my Etsy team -  the SHE Team -contacted me.
She had seen a photo on my blog.  And wanted to know if she could make a copy of it.
Now.
This was just an ordinary photo.  Snapped on the way to the car.  Of simple and sweet daisies.
And… I wouldn’t have thought twice about it!
BUT.  Misty from Scrapalooza had a vision of enlarging them to use as art on the wall of her craft room:

Cowboy Church

July 267I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.  Psalm 16:8

Every year during Frontier Days, we attend Cowboy Church

It’s outside.  In the same arena as the rodeos and night shows.

We, of course, sit in the stands.

You know.  In the SHADE.

All during the service, the rodeo contestants and staff are in the arena, warming up and getting ready.

In the hot SUN.

Many make time to worship and hear the sermon.  They radiate a spirit of worship and thankfulness:

Heavenly Oatmeal Bars

piccZrgfN
Delicious and easy bar cookies.  Just be sure to take them out after precisely 16 minutes.  Unless you’re in need of a concrete block, that is ;)
Also. I believe the original recipe called for 2 cups chocolate chips and 1 cup peanut butter for the glaze.  It was way too much for us and we halved both these ingredients.
But you can un-halve them if that suits you better b
HEAVENLY OATMEAL BARS
1 c. butter – no margarine
1 1/3 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 c. light corn syrup
5 1/3 c. quick cooking oats
2 tsp. vanilla

GLAZE:
1 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. creamy peanut butter

BARS: Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 x 9 baking pan. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl until fluffy. Stir in corn syrup, oats and vanilla with the mixer’s paddle attachment. With buttered fingers pat mixture evenly into prepared pan. Bake in middle of oven for 16 minutes. (NOTE:  Dough will look moist and doughy. Do not be tempted to bake longer.)
Cool in pan on rack until lukewarm, then spread warm glaze over top.
GLAZE: Melt ingredients in saucepan, stir over low heat, until mixture is smooth.
Cool, refrigerate.  Cut into 24 bars.
