Heavenly Oatmeal Bars

piccZrgfN
Delicious and easy bar cookies.  Just be sure to take them out after precisely 16 minutes.  Unless you’re in need of a concrete block, that is ;)
Also. I believe the original recipe called for 2 cups chocolate chips and 1 cup peanut butter for the glaze.  It was way too much for us and we halved both these ingredients.
But you can un-halve them if that suits you better b
HEAVENLY OATMEAL BARS
1 c. butter – no margarine
1 1/3 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 c. light corn syrup
5 1/3 c. quick cooking oats
2 tsp. vanilla

GLAZE:
1 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. creamy peanut butter

BARS: Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 x 9 baking pan. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl until fluffy. Stir in corn syrup, oats and vanilla with the mixer’s paddle attachment. With buttered fingers pat mixture evenly into prepared pan. Bake in middle of oven for 16 minutes. (NOTE:  Dough will look moist and doughy. Do not be tempted to bake longer.)
Cool in pan on rack until lukewarm, then spread warm glaze over top.
GLAZE: Melt ingredients in saucepan, stir over low heat, until mixture is smooth.
Cool, refrigerate.  Cut into 24 bars.
