“He was pierced for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him,
and by His wounds we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:5

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;

Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”

Psalm 34:8

“Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you,
persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you
because of me.”

Matthew 5:9-11

Superhero Art

After seeing the superhero art by I Am Momma Hear Me Roar, I was inspired to do a painting for my grandkid’s bedrooms.
Even though mine are over 4 feet long, they are still smaller than the painting at I Am Momma (they used a hollow core door).
The superhero theme is perfect for Nolan.  And I made it first.  See, I thought because of the clean lines and lack of details, it would be easier.
Ha!  Not so at all.  At least not for me… it’s really hard to be that exact :)
Also.  I had to change up the heroes a bit.  We couldn’t leave out Mr. Spiderman!
I chose a Bible verse for each painting.  Nolan’s is Isaiah 11:2 --
The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might,
the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord.
I’ll show you Skyleigh’s painting next week ;)

Nacho Cheese Soup

This recipe is really simple and comes together so quickly that it almost doesn’t even qualify as a respectable recipe! It’s great to have in your rotation for those nights when time is short and the drive thru is beckoning.

It’s also the only time I use “boxed” potatoes :)  Also… The original recipe doesn’t call for it, but we like to add a can or freezer container of pinto or black beans to make it a bit more hearty.
1 package au gratin potato mix
1 can corn or about 2 cups frozen
2 cups water
1 cup salsa OR 1 can Rotel tomatoes
1 15 ounce can or freezer container pinto or black beans (optional)
1.5 cups shredded cheese
2 cups milk
1/2 – 1 cup sliced olives (optional, but really good:)
Combine potatoes, sauce mix, corn, water, salsa (or Rotel tomatoes) and beans.  Bring to a boil, then simmer slowly for 25-30 minutes or until the potatoes are tender, stirring occasionally.  Add milk, olives and cheese.  Cook and stir over low heat until the cheese is melted and the soup is heated thru.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.”

Matthew 5:6-8
