Solved: The Mystery Of The Disappearing Blogger

Hello there.
I've missed you.

I miss writing here.
For a couple years, I've been walking through some things.
Hard things, friends.
Disappointments.
Loss.
Betrayal.
Grief.
The weight of a shattered and weary heart.

I could no longer do all the things.
I hit pause.
Learned to breathe again, to be still, to know.

But, finally.
Finally.
I'm ready to jump back in.
It's good to be back!

Shop Update

Happy Wednesday!

The weather is finally taking a turn for the better.  As least for the next few days…

My girl and I are trying to get a few things done in the yard/garden, but I have some shop updates for you.

Yellow and Gray Granny Square Afghan {from Puddin' Toes}

Special request baby blanket… I liked the colors she picked for her new niece so much I made another one for Puddin’ Toes.

Elephant Chevron, Blue & Gray Gingham Granny Square and Cars Baby Blankets from Puddin' Toes

These are three blankets that I’ve made over quite a few times! The elephants and the cars go almost faster than I can crochet them ;)

American Colonial Flag Ripple Afghan {the Prairie Cottage}

At the Prairie Cottage, I’ve also remade my colonial flag ripple blanket a few times. . . including a custom baby blanket for a Marine family.  Awww, so sweet!

Yellow and Gray Crochet Granny & Flower Garland {the Prairie Cottage}

Several new crochet garlands at the cottage.  They seem to be quite popular… The yellow and gray granny/flower garland is my favorite though :)

Blessings to you!

Superhero Art

SANY1173
After seeing the superhero art by I Am Momma Hear Me Roar, I was inspired to do a painting for my grandkid’s bedrooms.
SANY1179
Even though mine are over 4 feet long, they are still smaller than the painting at I Am Momma (they used a hollow core door).
SANY1175
The superhero theme is perfect for Nolan.  And I made it first.  See, I thought because of the clean lines and lack of details, it would be easier.
Ha!  Not so at all.  At least not for me… it’s really hard to be that exact :)
SANY1176
Also.  I had to change up the heroes a bit.  We couldn’t leave out Mr. Spiderman!
SANY1177
I chose a Bible verse for each painting.  Nolan’s is Isaiah 11:2 --
The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might,
the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord.
I’ll show you Skyleigh’s painting next week ;)

Meet My Peeps. . .

We are headed to Green River today to see Jared and Sara’s new house!

But I wanted to show you a couple new things at the Prairie Cottage:

Meet my peeps!

I changed the bunny applique I use on baby shoes in my PuddinToes shop and made them into a garland!

MUCH better (and cuter) than the marshmallow kind ;)

Every spring I collect everyone’s discarded plastic Easter eggs and upcyle them.  This year, I used antique piano music to fancy them up:

I love their sepia tones. . . even better than tea dyed!

Have a blessed Wednesday :)

Thanksgiving

When I turned on the radio the day after Halloween, I heard one of my favorite sounds... Christmas music!

But I remember thinking, Christmas music already?  It seems the airwaves are not alone… from store ads to emails, blog posts to Pinterest pins, it seems the world can think only of Christmas.

And it saddens my heart that Thanksgiving is deemed less worthy of the months of preparation given to Halloween and Christmas.

In all my memories of childhood, November was for Thanksgiving and it was celebrated first.  Time stood still for a moment while families were thankful… for each other and all the blessings enjoyed over the years.

And guess what -  Christmas was not diminished in the slightest.  In fact, it made the Christmas season THAT much more special and anticipated.

Lately, I find the more Thanksgiving gets pushed to the side, the more intentional I become about celebrating it…planning, decorating, crafting, cooking and baking with the same enthusiasm as I do Christmas.

Here are some of the projects I have made for Thanksgiving this year… in hopes my children’s memories of this holiday will be as fond as mine are!

Thursday update

Finally got [THESE] little owls finished…
001002009
What do you think? I love them and am thinking of making owls on a limb for other seasons. . . Christmas, Winter Snow Owls,Valentine’s Day, Spring. . .
I relisted some old favorites.  They’ve always done well – I’m just a little tired of making them :)  They each are the last runner in their design.
