Wednesday Update

It’s chilly and rainy here today.  The high is forecast as 47.  (We can only hope). 

So on this fine cold-enough-to-be-but-not-quite-fall day, I have some things to show you from PrairieCottageRose.

Pumpkin row table runners add just the right splash of color to your house! 

This year, they have a new ruffled center panel. 

Love these simple fall runners!  I use mine from early fall until we pull out the Christmas boxes.  They blend perfectly with any style of fall decor. 

Now for the 2 new designs. . .

How are you getting ready for fall?

The cake that became a quilt

Once upon a time… I happened upon THIS fantabulous cake. 

And: Instead of cake, my brain said quilt.  A rag quilt.  For Nolan’s birthday.

(He loves Spiderman)

(And Batman)

(And approximately 17,642 other super heroes whose names I never manage to keep straight)

 

So I copied redesigned the Spiderman cake into a rag quilt appliqué.

And surrounded him with red and blue rag quilt squares. 

 

I’m not going to give you a full tutorial, cuz there are lots of really good ones already out there in blog land.

I do love some really fluffy seam allowances.  So to that end, I cut my squares much bigger than most tutorials - 9.5”, with a 1.5” seam allowance when sewing them together. 

The center square is 16” x  21.5” before sewing.

This Queen Anne's Lace scarf is one of my favorites! I found the pattern among my Grammy's papers. It was originally intended to be made as a thread crochet edging on sheets and pillowcases. I love making it into scarves instead!!

What I've been making... Part 2

I am delighted to participate in Pretty Organized Palace's Weekend Boutique! What fun to peek in and see what all you crafty people have been hand making with love. And I'm hoping for a little PR for my PrairieCottageRose & Puddintoes Etsy shops, too:)

Today I'm highlighting the newest autumn handiwork from PrairieCottageRose:

Harvest moonlight hand painted plate. This is a pattern from Terrye French and one of my favorites to paint. Love the prim moon watching over a little saltbox farmhouse and the scarecrow guarding the pumpkin patch.

Prim ruffled turkey and pumpkin table runner. (Mr. Turkey is trying to hide out in the punkin patch. Thanksgiving is coming, you know:)

A prim scarecrow table runner. He has forsaken the corn patch in favor of his beloved pumpkins. He may, in fact, be the very same scarecrow in the above painted plate. There is an uncanny resemblance.....

July Challenge

The SHE team monthly challenge theme for July is summer melons! I had a lot of fun making melon related items for the challenge:

Watermelon placemats in a set of 4 from PrairieCottageRose.

And for Puddintoes, this soft melon/lemon baby blankie with a flower applique.

Now here is where I need the help of all my muses out there! The theme for August is 'Back to School' and I don't have a single idea. Nope. Nothing. June Challenge

The SHE team June challenge was really fun this month. The theme was patriotic and I managed to get an item finished for each of my shops. I was inspired to crochet this blanket for puddintoes and Liberty angel runner is from prairiecottagerose.

Did you know I have 2 Etsy shops now? My baby items weren't getting many views in the PrairieCottageRose shop. So I decided to open Puddintoes for the baby things. I had several cute shop names picked out, but finally decided on Puddintoes. That's my grandson's nickname! He's also here. And here. Because I wouldn't want you to miss out on any cuteness :)

THe STaR SPaNgLeD RuNNeR

Here are the first of the Americana table runners. The Star Spangled Runners are a new design for 2009. This first one is made from deeper toned fabrics that have the appearance of being tea-dyed. Each fabric has either stars, firecrackers, or American flags!

This runner is flat out red, white and blue. It's my current favorite. I am so loving the fabric of the center star because.....

It has the entire Pledge of Allegiance printed right onto the fabric!! Too awesome and perfect for an Americana runner! You will find The Star Spangled Runners at prairiecottagerose.
